Winter Foraging Walkabout

Join us for a wander around the farm with foraging expert, Lizzy Farmer - what she doesn't know about mushrooms isn't worth knowing! She will open your eyes to some of delicacies the countryside has to offer in the winter, right on your doorstep!

Lizzie is an experienced forager who will help you indentify a range of plants and mushrooms and show you what is safe to eat (and what isn't!). You'll have the chance to gather and taste some edible wild plants and mushrooms.

After the walk we will head back to the farmyard for lunch where you will create and cook your own pizzas with some wild food inspired toppings! Teas, coffees and water will be provided with lunch.

Things to note

This event is open to everyone aged 12 years and above. Tickets are discounted for 12-18 year olds. We'll be running some events tailored for our younger foragers at a later date so look out for those! 

The terrain is flat but it may be muddy so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems.

Venue details

- Meet at East Farm, Hollow Lane, Burton Lazars, LE14 2UW

- There will be plenty of room for parking in the farmyard

- Please arrive ready for a prompt start at 9:30am.

- There is a toilet and handwashing facilities.

What to bring

- Drink and a snack for the walk

- Sturdy footwear

- Appropriate clothes for the weather (waterproof trousers are recommended)

- Your ticket (an electronic version is fine)
