The Cattle
Our herd of Aberdeen Angus crossbred beef cattle
Our whole herd are made up of Aberdeen Angus crossbred cows - in our case their Dads were an Aberdeen Angus and their Mums were dairy cows!

They come here from a dairy farm when they are 2 weeks old and their mothers have entered the milking herd.
For the first few weeks they stay inside where they have an all-you-can-eat milk bar which they can help themselves to anytime as well as fresh straw to nest in and extra feed.

When they are older they can join the rest of the herd.
The herd spends the summer months outside grazing and then everyone comes in for winter when their pasture begins to flood.

Once they are inside they have free access to silage (preserved grass) that we make on the farm in the Spring time.
They are all beef cows so once they have reached a certain weight and age they are ready to enter the food chain. It is always a sad day when they leave but we are proud to have given them a fantastic life.
